The International Women's Day 2010 Theme is "Empowering Women - The Journey Forward".

Registration Information: 

 

Registration can be done through your worksite coordinator or using the On-line Registration.  

 

Registration Timeline:  Friday, February 5 to Friday, February 19, 2010.

 

Registration Fee: 

 

In lieu of a registration fee, we are collecting donations for (TBD).

 

Your contribution is appreciated.

  

Silent Auction:

 

This year we are excited to be able to offer a Silent Auction with lots of great items to bid on. We hope that you will join in the fun and get some great deals at the same time.

 

Exhibitors:

 

Information booths from various organizations will be on display.  They may offer prizes or items for sale.  For more information visit:  IWD Exhibitors

  

Lunch Options: 

 

Holiday Inn Harbourview has a beautifully renovated dining area and is offering a buffet lunch on the conference day. Lunch tickets will be available to purchase during the course of the morning. The same menu and price will be available in the downstairs restaurant to accommodate overflow from the second floor dining room. The cost of the lunch TBD (taxes included). Alternatively, inside the hotel is Quickie's Coffee Shop and there are a number of eating establishments in the vicinity of the hotel, i.e. Tim Horton’s, McDonald’s, Subway, and Down Town Pizza.

 

Public Transportation & Parking:

 

Pay parking is available at the hotel.  A major Metro Transit stop at the Bridge Terminal is located across the street from the hotel. Workshops for this event are being held at the Holiday Inn Harbourview and the Dartmouth Sportsplex.

Special Considerations

This is a Barrier Free conference. Please identify specific requests with your registration.

American Sign Language will be provided for the plenary and for the workshops on request.

It is very important that you indicate your requirement on your registration.

To accommodate participants with environmental sensitivities, please remember that this is a smoke-free and scent-free environment.

Opening Plenary: Dr. Rita Deverell

Dr. Deverell's distinguished career has included work as an academic, broadcaster, television producer/director, journalist, arts administrator and theatre artist. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Adelphi University, MA in History of Religions from Columbia University and EdD in Curriculum from OISE at the University of Toronto, and was the first woman to lead a journalism program in Canada in her position as Director of the School of Journalism at the University of Regina in the 1980's. She recently completed her term as head of news and current affairs at the Aboriginal People's Network and was a founding member of Vision TV, the world's first multi-faith and multi-cultural network.

Dr. Deverell was recognized in 2005 with an Order of Canada for her pioneering work in journalism, and has authored several screenplays for which she also served as producer and director. She has held visiting professorships at the University of Western Ontario and New York University.

Closing Plenary: Our closing plenary will include a Spoken Word Artist as well as local musicians.
